Will Smith Apologizes To Chris Rock In Instagram Post

Author Brian Ives // Managing Editor, Beasley Media
March 28th, 2022 8:22 PM
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 27: Will Smith accepts the Actor in a Leading Role award for ‘King Richard’ onstage during the 94th Annual Academy Awards at Dolby Theatre on March 27, 2022 in Hollywood, California.

Earlier tonight, Will Smith posted an apology to Chris Rock on his Instagram account, for last night's incident at the Academy Awards.  It read, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.  I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”

GALLERY: Oscars 2022: Ranking the Best and Worst Red Carpet Looks

  • Worst: Julia Vernon

    Share

She's the hair and makeup supervisor for Cruella, but she's being cruel to us with this ensemble.

  • Worst: Eva Von Bahr

    Share

The hair and makeup stylists are bombing on the red carpet. Although we fully appreciate art, we don't want to see it printed on a gown.

  • Worst: Maria Menounos

    Share

Straight jacket but make it fashion? Maria Menounos looks as stiff as this dress makes us feel looking at it.

  • Worst: Diane Warren

    Share

We appreciate the effort, but the Best Song nominee's outfit doesn't look quite right on her.

  • Worst: Maggie Gyllenhaal

    Share

The Lost Daughter director got lost herself, wearing this T-shaped gown.

  • Worst: David Oyelowo

    Share

We appreciate the actor's attempt at spring patterns, but it's making us dizzy with it's neon color.

  • Worst: Timothée Chalamet

    Share

Although we love a bare-chested blazer, we'd rather see it on his 'Dune' co-star Jason Momoa.

  • Worst: Zendaya

    Share

We were looking forward to what Zendaya was going to wear at the Oscars, and although her skirt is stunning, the top and hair just don't do it for us.

    Share

Green gowns on redheads is a guaranteed Win in our book!

  • Best: DJ D-Nice

    Share

DJ D-Nice looks dapper with his wide-brimmed hat and multi-textured suit.

  • Best: Regina Hall

    Share

Regina Hall wearing a nude mesh gown is a refreshing break from all the bold colors on the red carpet.
