It’s no surprise that Michigan’s most iconic street is Woodward Avenue. The “iconic” avenue runs 27 miles from Detroit all the way to Pontiac. According to Michigan.gov, long before Detroit was incorporated as a city in 1815, Woodward Avenue was established as a primary transportation path by Native Americans. It was known as the Saginaw Trail and later became a wood-planked “corduroy road” for wagon travel.
