Michigan Is A Top Ice Cream-Loving State
It’s always a good time for ice cream. But who loves ice cream the most? GreatLakesStakes.com used Google Trends to calculate the most ice cream-loving states from April of last year to April of this year.
They developed a point system and compiled a list of states who love ice cream which included the overall search volume of “Ice Cream,” “Chocolate Ice Cream,” “Vanilla Ice Cream” and “Strawberry Ice Cream.” It’s worth mentioning that they based this only on search trends, and not on actual sales. Also, there are obviously many more ice cream flavors — many of which are specific to certain chains — than just chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
When it came to ice cream search interest on Google, Michigan ranked ninth overall, with chocolate scoring the highest at 36, followed by strawberry at 29, and vanilla at 25.
Michigan ranks amongst states that love ice cream the most.
Michigan had an overall search interest ranking of 41, with a total score of 131.
Nationally, Michigan trailed states like New Hampshire (173 points), Utah (158 points), Delaware (152 points), Connecticut (151 points), and Maine (148 points), who nationally made up the top five.
The state was also between Maryland and New Jersey, which tied for seventh overall with 138 points. Which came ahead of South Carolina (130 points), Ohio (126 points), and Pennsylvania (120 points).
