There are so many occasions applicable to eating a big serving of nachos. A ballgame, as an appetizer, or simply just because. Eat This, Not That recently published the best nachos in every state, and a brewery restaurant was recognized as the best in Michigan.

The article details a glowing review of these nachos: “They were so filling, and I loved all the toppings. It had unique flavors that I wasn’t expecting.” Nachos are tasty enough to be simplified into basic chips and cheese. Certain establishments choose to load them up with guacamole, salsa, meats, and local flavors. There are plenty of ways that establishments find to get creative with nachos.

In Eat This, Not That’s feature, they explain how they featured different nacho variations that often include food that was native to the state. In Michigan, however, these award-winning nachos come from a restaurant that has up to 15 unique homebrews on tap, in addition to 15 canned beers.

Ascension Brewing Company

Michigan’s best nachos are about 25 miles northwest of downtown Detroit, in Novi. Ascension Brewing Company is sandwiched between Ann Arbor and Detroit, located on Grand River Avenue. They opened in 2015 and pride themselves on their farm-to-table concept. Ascension was the first first nano-brewery and gastropub in Novi.

The Nachos

Their nachos are so popular that they were highlighted on Food Network’s 50 nachos in 50 states, according to their menu. There are half or full-sized portions. They are described as “pulled pork and red onion drizzled with warm cheddar ale and piled high atop tri-colored corn tortilla chips. Covered with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and baked to perfection, then topped with pico de gallo and sriracha bourbon barbeque sauce, then, sprinkled with green onion.”

In the appetizer section, you will find chips and queso on the menu. This is perhaps a more scaled-down version of their infamous nachos. The same tri-colored chips are served with house-made chili and cheddar ale blend.
