New Year’s resolutions and positive changes.
A previous Forbes Health survey on New Year’s resolutions for 2023 indicated a focus on improving mental health among respondents. However, the latest survey results suggest a noticeable shift in prioritizing physical health as the primary goal for 2024.
According to a Forbes Health survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted by One Poll in October 2023, nearly 48% of respondents identified improving fitness as their top priority. Meanwhile, only 36% were focusing on mental health.
In the most recent survey, participants were asked to determine the relative importance of improving mental versus physical health in the upcoming year. Approximately 55% indicated that both goals held equal importance.
Key resolutions for 2024, according to the survey, include enhancing finances (38.2%), shedding weight (33.8%), and refining dietary habits (31.6%). On the other hand, fewer people are dedicating attention to learning a new skill (8.8%), allocating more time to hobbies (7.1%), and increasing travel (5.9%).
Despite a slight shift away from prioritizing mental health in 2024, many respondents plan to use meditation apps (32.6%) to stick to their resolutions, while nearly 18% intend to utilize online therapy services.
With the new year around the corner, almost 62% of those surveyed say they feel a bit pressured to make a resolution. Additionally, many respondents intend to commit to multiple goals, with 66.5% planning to make three or more resolutions for the year ahead.
