Detroit Named Cheapest City For A Date Night
Detroit was named the cheapest city for a date night. The only disclaimer is that it is specific to a date night where you stay in. The Loupe (by Shane Company), recently detailed the cost of a date night in major cities across the country. In addition, they compare the costs of a night out vs. a night staying in.
“Whether you’re a homebody or a social butterfly, we’ve crunched the numbers to analyze the costs of multiple date night factors, including food, movies, booze, tips, fees, and rideshare in 50 of America’s largest cities,” The Loupe explains. This report highlights that all is not lost if the cost of a date night out is more than you budgeted. They also compare what a date night “in” would be. As you can imagine, in most cases, it is significantly cheaper.
A Detroit Date Night By The Numbers
The Loupe states that a typical date night within the confines of your own home will cost about $29.87 in Detroit. For context, Providence is the second cheapest at $33.22.
“Detroit is the least expensive city on our list for a stay-at-home date, so if you’re looking for an affordable dating scene, you might want to swipe right on some locals,” The Loupe said. It’s important to note that a date night here considers the average cost of takeout meals, delivery, tips, renting a movie, beer, and ice cream.
Overall, New York was the most expensive city for a date night out at $202.30. San Francisco was only about $2 more than Boston at $179, rounding out the top three priciest cities.
A night out around the town is certainly worth the extra spend at times. In addition, there’s nothing wrong with grabbing some food and relaxing in your own place. “Pull on your favorite sweatpants and get ready to give your wallet a break,” The Loupe concludes.
