Wendy’s Introduces New ‘Orange Dreamsicle’ Frosty Flavor
Celebrating the first day of spring, Wendy’s is introducing a new Frosty flavor inspired by a classic childhood popsicle. PEOPLE reported that the fast-food chain will be dropping their first spring flavor “Orange Dreamsicle,” on March 19.
According to the outlet, it mixes Wendy’s vanilla Frosty with orange creamsicle pop flavor. Unfortunately for Vanilla Frosty lovers, this new flavor means the vanilla Frosty will be getting replaced. The magazine mentioned that, just like many of Wendy’s seasonal flavors, the orange dreamsicle will replace the vanilla Frosty temporarily and join the chocolate Frosty on the menu.
Wendy’s Serving Up Nostalgia
If you’re wondering why they just can’t take the chocolate frosty off its menu, it’s because the chocolate Frosty came first. According to the Deseret News, Wendy’s original chocolate-flavored Frosty was one of five products on the menu in 1969. They said it took the chain close to four decades to introduce another flavor for the milkshake and ice cream crossover item before adding vanilla. The vanilla Frosty didn’t arrive until 2006.
“Orange Dreamsicle Frosty follows the previous seasonally-inspired successes of Wendy’s Strawberry, Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Frosty treats,” Nation’s Restaurant News reported.
Some people took to Reddit to share their excitement for the new flavor dropping on March 19. “Actually can’t wait to try this. There’s going to be a lovely window of overlap between this and the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake and I’m all about it,” one person said. Another person asked if they “Could they do a 1/2 orange and 1/2 chocolate frosty?”
Previously, the chain released the Strawberry Frosty for the summer, fall’s Pumpkin Spice Frosty, and winter’s Peppermint Frosty.
Last month, Wendy’s announced that they will be upgrading their menu boards to give them “more flexibility” to change the display of featured items. Check out some more of the fast-food chain updates here.
