Rogers said that being drafted in his city is one of his greatest dreams. His excitement was plain for all to see. Wearing his Detroit hat, Rogers seemed ready for the most significant weekend of his life.
Rogers said, “I’ve had some great conversations with different teams.” Adjusting to the professional level is a giant leap, and Rogers is fully aware of the job. “You have to start from the very bottom and work your way up,” saying that the difference in seriousness and attention to detail is enormous between high school and college.
Rogers attributes his skill development and ability to adapt to higher-level play to the demanding coaching he received at both the University of Kentucky and Auburn University, as well as to the support provided to him by his high school coaches.
He turned to his peers, now current NFL players, such as Josh Paschal from the Detroit Lions, Phil Hoskins of Arizona, and Teair Tart of the Tennessee Titans.
Rogers said he plans to stay home for the draft. “We’re going to be far away from everything.”
About Detroit, Rogers said, “I am excited to be drafted here. Remember where I am from. I can’t wait.” He’s ready to join any team that needs a “5-foot-6 defensive lineman,” showcasing his hopes and humor as he approaches the draft.
Justin Rogers is about to achieve his long-awaited dream. Not only is this an achievement for himself, but it’s also an inspiration for younger generations in Detroit, proving that talent, dedication, and self-confidence can make anything possible.
