America Is Ranked As One Of The Worst Countries To Raise A Family
America just got a big, fat F when it comes to raising families. According to a study by Asher & Lyric, the Unites States was ranked second to last when it comes to the best places to raise a family in 2020.
To get the numbers, the site ranked 35 OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries on safety, happiness, cost, health, education, and time. They only country worse than ours was Mexico, and coming in at Number one was Iceland.
According to the co-founder of the site, Lyric Benson-Fergusson, the numbers were shocking. “The first time I looked at the data, I was in disbelief,” she said. She added, “I know Americans are struggling, but how could the United States rank as the 34th best country to raise a family in 2020? I said, ‘We have to check. We need to crunch the numbers again.’ We did. The data was undeniably correct.”
The data the website gathered pointed out some other key findings about our country. They are:
America ranked second to worst in the safety category, scoring an F.
There are 6.12 homicides per 100,000 people in America.
From 2009-2018, the US has had 288 school shootings. Almost every other country on the list has zero.
The US also has a poor ranking in the human rights category.
