Michigan Has the No. 1 Beach Town in the United States, Study Says
Michigan has the best lake beach town in the entire United States, according to a new study.
Wallethub unveiled its annual tally of the best beach towns in the U.S. on Wednesday (June 16), comparing beach towns on lakes and oceans.
Michigan earned major bragging rights this year, as Traverse City scored the No. 1 spot on the list.
Wallethub scored each city based on affordability, weather, safety and economy. Traverse City scored an overall score of 65.84, just about the No. 2 town, Folsom, California, with a score of 64.97.
Traverse City topped the list for towns on a lake, while Naples, Florida, took the No. 1 spot for a town on the ocean.
Traverse City earned the No. 1 ranking for quality of life, No. 13 in education and health, No. 15 for weather, No. 20 for economy and No. 23 for safety.
Three other Michigan towns appeared on the lake list, including Alpena at No. 18, Holland at No. 19 and Port Huron at No. 44.
