Delaney Schnell has enjoyed a stellar first time at the Olympics. Schnell - an Iron Mountain, Michigan, native - will come home with a shiny silver medal in her hands.

Last week in synchronized platform diving, she scored the Olympic silver medal with Jessica Parratto. Following that strong performance, she was favored to win the individual platform event this week.

At this week's event, she ended up fifth place. But not winning a second medal doesn't take away from her victories.

“It's been unbelievable,” Schnell - who was raised in Tucson, Arizona, and competes for the University of Arizona - told TeamUSA.org of her first Olympic games. “That's why I'm crying now because it's really just been an incredible journey. I couldn't be more happy with it.”

She added, “I did not expect anything out of [my first Olympic Games]. I think that's what made it a little easier to come in and enjoy it and perform the way I did.”
