Detroit Named A Best City For Street Art
Street art is a creative way to represent a city’s culture. It also can inspire the community. To appreciate this unique art form, USA Today‘s 10Best recently named the cities with the finest street art, and Detroit was one of them. Colorful street art embodies the hometown personality of the city. Locals feel a connection to it.
The ten cities identified in 10Best’s list cover all corners of the country. Some of them display the original work of an artist native to the state. Others bring in famous street mural artists to create high-profile pieces.

“Detroit’s Grand River Creative Corridor stands out as a highlight with nearly 100 murals between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Avenue,” 10Best states. In fact, Visit Detroit has an entire section on their website dedicated to guiding you through the city’s murals. “Detroit is a city full of artists finding new outlets for their creative talents. In recent years, one of the most beautiful forms of creative expression used to celebrate Detroit has been through visual art in the form of murals,” they explain.
Where Else To Find This Incredible Street Art
Local favorites include the Stevie Wonder mural by artist Richard Wilson. This is displayed outside the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts. You will find two of Arlin Graff’s pieces in Detroit. A massive bird on Kercheval Avenue in West Village, and the other is of a tiger on Gratiot Avenue in Lafayette Park.
