Car Crashes Into The Fillmore Box Office In Downtown Detroit
It was a chaotic scene in downtown Detroit Monday morning, after a one vehicle crash on Woodward. A driver crashed into The Fillmore, destroying the Box Office outside the building.
According to Erica Francis and Amber Ainsworth of Fox 2 Detroit, a female driver crashed into the box office around 2:25am. Although the box office was essentially leveled during the crash, there was no further damage inside of the popular theatre.
Crash Outside The Fillmore Detroit
Fox 2 Detroit says that the owners of the venue heard that the driver was intoxicated, but police have not confirmed that detail. The driver did not appear to be injured in the crash outside of The Fillmore in Downtown Detroit. She was taken into police custody.
Glass and debris was found all around The Fillmore in Detroit after the crash on Woodward Avenue. It remains unclear what led up to the crash or what may have caused it. ClickOnDetroit.com has video that you can watch here.
There are no shows at The Fillmore tonight, however country star Chris Young, known for hits like “Famous Friends” and “The Man I Want To Be,” is set to take the stage Tuesday night. That means crews have been busy cleaning the area up so it can be ready to host the masses again tomorrow night.
