Detroit’s John Mason, Michigan Central Concert Gig was ‘God At Work’

At the very beginning of the Michigan Central Station Concert… a very familiar voice started to speak. That voice was John Mason, morning show host for 105.9 KISS-FM and the Detroit Pistons.

The experience was so remarkable that I just had to talk with John about what it felt like to be part of that historical moment. Mason said it was, “God at work and an incredible honor.”

John continued that he was just honored and floored by having the opportunity to be the announcer for the concert and it “instills all of the reasons why I love being a Detroiter and doing broadcasting. And God said, I’ve got a little gift for you unwrap it.” Later in our conversation, Mason and I got emotional telling the story about our history of working together.

Randi Myles is the mid-day host on Detroit’s Praise Network. Randi’s mom knew she was destined to be in some form of entertainment when even as a small child, she would pretend a pencil was a microphone and sing and charm family and friends. Later she would sing in church and college choirs. However, it wasn’t until she attended Specs Howard School of Media Arts, that Ms. Myles would find her true voice. Randi enjoys writing about the city of Detroit, faith, and the community.
