Artist Spotlight On Rufus Johnson Is “So Good”
Recently, I had the opportunity to catch up with Rufus Johnson the self-proclaimed “saved R&B singer” about his latest music. This Richmond, Virginia native is known for his songs with GI – you know, “Pray and Don’t Worry and I’m Ready” – but is now a solo artist.
Today we talk about Rufus Johnson’s journey from singing in churches to singing with GI. Rufus says that singing with GI gave him a glimpse of the industry from record charts and traveling, which gave him the confidence to pursue a solo career. Rufus came out swinging with his first solo song, “Thank You.”
Rufus Johnson Is “So Good”
Rufus Johnson says that his newest single, “So Good,” is a continuation of his previous song, “Thank You.” He and his producer, D. Bryant, wanted to “go to the next level” with this song, and they succeeded.
Rufus and his wife Kristen are the driving force behind KR Scholars, a nonprofit organization that awards scholarships to deserving HBCU students. Since 2020, KR Scholars has awarded over $25,000 to over 20 HBCU students.
“So Good” is available where you get your music, and you can find Rufus on social media @iamrufusjohnson.

About Randi Myles:
I am a child of God that has a lot to say.
Here you will find conversations with artists, authors, speakers, and teachers within the faith-based community. Also, my journey has been colorful, rich, and sometimes really hard so, I look for answers and respite through these posts. My mom wanted me to write a book and I’m working on that, so bear with me as I fumble my way through.
I am working on balancing my extremely fun work life with my personal life that is filled with challenges these days. I know that God will see me to victory so… welcome to my life.
