How Popular Is the Detroit Red Wings’ Mascot, Al the Octopus? New Study Finds Out!
Who doesn’t love a good mascot?
Play Canada recently asked more than 2,000 NHL fans from Canada and the U.S. to ask them to rate each NHL mascot on a scale from one to five.
The Red Wings’ mascot, Al the Octopus, came in at No. 14 on the list of the best mascots in the NHL. Good ol’ Al received a 3.75 ranking out of 5.
Al also got ranked the second most obnoxious mascot in the NHL, just behind Gritty of Pennsylvania. Man!
The top five most popular NHL mascots according were Carlton the Bear (Toronto), Sabretooth (Buffalo), Howler the Coyote (Arizona), Louis (St. Louis) and Slapshot (Washington).
