Live Nation, AEG COVID-19 Protocols Start This Week
Things are changing in the music world starting Monday (Oct. 4), as it’s the day Live Nation Entertainment is requiring all artists and fans to either show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test at all of the company’s venues and festivals in the U.S.
“Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to shows, and as of October 4th we will be following the model we developed for Lollapalooza and requiring this for artists, fans and employees at Live Nation venues and festivals everywhere possible in the US,” Michael Rapino, president and CEO of Live Nation, said in a statement.
Another live entertainment company, AEG Presents, has similar requirements, in that starting last Friday (Oct. 1), they require proof of vaccination for entry into their owned and operated clubs, theatres and festivals.
“We have come to the conclusion that, as a market leader, it was up to us to take a real stand on vaccination status,” Jay Marciano, chairman and CEO of AEG Presents, said.
What does this mean for local music?
Currently, according to 313 Presents, shows at Little Caesars Arena, The Fox and their amphitheaters are only following “show specific” policies if a tour puts restriction in place.
According to Live Nation, before entering Saint Andrew’s Hall or The Fillmore Detroit, all shows will require attendees to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event or full COVID-19 vaccination (at least two weeks after final dose). Proof must be a printed copy of a negative test result or vaccination or the original vaccination card.
According to AEG, at all AEG venues, including The Royal Oak Music Theater and The Masonic Temple, proof of vaccination is required in order to attend concerts and events at the venue. AEG also says The Majestic, which is not technically their room, is mimicking their policy for that room.
