When Will Michigan Get Its First Inch of Snow? It’s Coming
Snow is coming. After all, it’s nearing November, so it’s not a big surprise to us Michiganders. I’m not a big fan of the snow. I don’t like driving in it, for one, and just don’t care for cold weather, so I’d like to delay the first measurable snow as much as possible.
That said, some areas of Michigan have already seen their first snowfall. Gaylord was the first area in Michigan to officially get snowfall, with a dusting of the white stuff last Friday morning (Oct. 22), according to the National Weather Service.
Areas such as Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Flint could get snow as early as next week. That’s based on weather projections that have temperatures in the 30s at night and 40s during the day, via Weather.com. Right now, there isn’t a big chance of lots of precipitation next week, so don’t expect to go sledding or make snow angels, but we might get some snow that sticks.
The earliest Detroit has seen snow is Oct. 19, according to the National Weather Service. In Lansing, Grand Rapids and Flint, it’s Oct. 12. For Up North areas, it’s more like early October. In other words, we’ve been lucky, so far, this season. Buckle up!
