New York City’s Town Hall Celebrates Twinkie Clark
Twinkie Clark, Detroit’s own “Mother of Contemporary Gospel Music” was recently recognized for her 50-plus year career as one of the most prolific gospel composers in music history. New York City’s Town Hall presented “A Celebration of Twinkie Clark” in a one-night-only event featuring the award-winning Clark, who took to the Hammond to perform some of her original compositions.
The grand affair was celebrated with her music legend sister Karen Clark Sheard of the legendary Clark Sister, Faith Evans, jazz musician Camille Thurman, Pastor Juandolyn Stokes, along with vocalists Chenee Campbell, Tiffany Freeman, Markita Knight, and Alicia Peters-Jordan with the Orchestra of Tomorrow, and Damien Sneed, who also curated and conducted the event.
Clark was elated saying, “I have never had a performance done with an orchestra. I am excited and honored.”
