Bishop William Murphy, III, Pastor of the dReam Center Church of Atlanta caused a viral sensation when a video showed the congregation “Walking it out” and “Swag Surfin’” during their New Year’s Eve service.

According to the “Atlanta Black Star” the complaints from some in attendance (and many more not in attendance but just saw the 40 second clip) were swift and sometimes sarcastic; calling the New Year’s Eve celebration, “ghetto” and “Let me know when they start twerking…. I’ll go back to church then.”
But many were quick to defend Murphy with posts saying, “how about going to watch the whole service before you judge the message was powerful… maybe it might just help you. Fact check before you judge,” and “Man I wish I would’ve been there ❤️”
As for Bishop Murphy? He said in an interview that the Dream Center of Atlanta is not your “Grandma’s church” and was preaching from Acts 3, about a “man struggling since he came into the world. … and the Lord said, tell the church to walk it out. And that’s how we go there.”
