The Louisiana Legislature of 1868 – Black History is American History
On June 29 of 1868, the Louisiana Legislature met in New Orleans. The temporary chairman was black representative R. H. Isabelle. Oscar Dunn presided over the Senate. 7 of the 36 senators were black and 35 of 101 representatives were black.
