The Group Fire Talks “About Last Night”
The Group Fire’s latest single has been rising up the charts with it’s smooth R&B vocals reminiscent of the Band Heatwave’s slow jam “Always and Forever.” Come to think of it, I once saw a viral video of a pastor singing the classic song but making it gospel instead. In fact… he did a whole medley!
But back to the Group Fire. I had the chance to talk to the group about, their Boy Band persona, what they are doing lately, and how “About Last Night” came about. Lead singer Terelle Cooper said the song is about the encounters with God that happen at night and change your life, like when Jacob I wrestled with God all night long and told the Lord he wouldn’t stop wrestling unless God bless him. (Genesis 32:22-31) Then Cooper began preaching about Jesus, when he was beaten all night long never saying a mumbling word. (Matthew 27:14) Needless to say, we had church!
